The Feldenkrais Method® is a form of neuromuscular reeducation.  When someone wants to reduce pain, recover from an injury, or improve aspects of themselves (usually movement, balance, posture, flexibility, or performance related), a Feldenkrais lesson addresses the whole person – not just the symptom – by eliciting changes in the nervous system. Scientists call this process “neuroplasticity,” which is the brain’s extraordinary ability to acquire more efficient patterns of movement and action if given the right learning environment.

If you have particular muscle tension or chronic pain a remedial massage may be for you. Your remedial massage therapist will assess where you need treatment and what may be causing your pain. They may perform some tests to see exactly which muscles are giving you trouble and will tailor a treatment plan to suit. Deep Tissue massage strokes are used to respond to various tissues while breath and movement techniques are employed to release muscular congestion. It also helps to loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating efficiently and is both corrective and therapeutic. Deep Tissue Massage is of great benefit for physical problems, including sports injuries and chronic pain also because it works very deeply, emotional issues can also be addressed when these issues have been stored in the body.

Trigger points are manifested as small contraction knots in the muscles, that control the state of contraction, active ones may cause muscle spasm and referred pain.

Trigger Point Therapy is a form of Remedial Massage Therapy in which direct pressure is applied to specific points on tender muscle tissue to bring about pain relief and reduction in muscle tension, some of which may be referred pain.

All the structures in the body are surrounded, protected and supported by superficial and middle layers of connective tissue, otherwise known as fascia. Fascia is a continuous elastic sheath that provides structural support for the skeleton and soft tissues (muscles, tendons, organs, etc.)…Scarring or injury to the fascia can cause pain and restrict motion. Myofascial release uses applied stretches to break down fascial adhesions and realign it to its proper orientation. We also use myofascial cupping techniques to work very effectively with your fascia.
