What to Expect at Your First Massage Appointment
Your Wellness Journey Starts Here
Welcome! We’re thrilled to have you as a new client and want to ensure your first visit is as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Here’s what you can expect:
1. The Health Intake form
Right after you made your appointment you should have received a health history form to fill in – If you didn’t please check your spam or send us a message at [email protected] and we can resend it. This will help us to understand any medical conditions, areas of discomfort, or specific goals you may have for the session.
2. Consultation & Customisation
Before we begin, your therapist will take a few moments to discuss your health history and preferences. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, pain relief, or muscle recovery, this is your time to share any areas you’d like us to focus on or avoid. We’ll customise the session to fit your needs.
3. Your Massage Session
Once we’ve discussed your needs, we’ll leave the room to give you privacy to undress to your comfort level. You will be fully draped with a sheet during the massage, and only the area being worked on will be exposed.
During the session:
- Move or Adjust When Needed
Don’t hesitate to adjust your body if you’re uncomfortable. Whether it’s changing your position, asking for an extra pillow, or shifting slightly to get more comfortable, making small adjustments will help you stay relaxed throughout the session. - Communicate About Pressure
If the pressure feels too light or too intense at any point, let your therapist know immediately. They can adjust the pressure to your comfort level. Remember, this is your time, and we want to ensure it’s just right for you. - Don’t Worry About Talking
You’re welcome to talk during the massage if you feel like it, but silence is perfectly fine too. Feel free to let your therapist know your preference ahead of time, so they can make sure you’re comfortable with the atmosphere during the session.
You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when the body is not resisting. Massage Therapists are trained to solicit and receive client feedback and are expected to respond to such situations.
Take some deep breaths and relax! This is your time to unwind.
4. After Your Massage
Once the session is complete, we’ll allow you a few minutes to slowly get up and dress. We recommend taking your time, as you might feel especially relaxed or lightheaded.
Your therapist will check in with you afterward to see how you’re feeling and offer suggestions for post-massage care, such as hydration or stretching and they may make some recommendations for follow up treatments or a recommended schedule for a maintenance massage, feel free to ask your therapist any questions.
5. Payment & Booking Follow-Up Sessions
After your massage, you can head to the front desk to settle payment. If you enjoyed your experience, we recommend booking your next appointment to secure your preferred time and continue your wellness journey.
